What are the purpose of "wig clips" and how do you use them?

Apparently, they have SOMETHING to do with wigs because of their name, but all I've ever seen people use them for are clip-in hair extensions.
How do you use them with a wig?
yeah
its to stop the wig from falling off. make the wig inverted, and pin it to your head bit by bit (three is ok i guess)
then flip the wig back to normal
